Nomination for 2007 Logie Awards
Congratulations to Lateline - ABC TV on it's nomination for a Logie
Award in the category of "Most Outstanding News
Coverage". The Lateline story on "Sexual
Abuse of the Elderly", which was produced with the assistance
of family members of one victim, a whistleblower and EAPA, became
instrumental in raising public awareness about the issue of elder abuse
in residential care facilities. The program also prompted
legislation enacting the first mandatory reporting laws in Australia,
effective from 1 July 2007.
